2008 Conference
The Idaho Lifelong Learning Association's 2008 conference titled "Remembering the Future: Tradition and Innovation in a Changing World" is October 16-18 at The Grove in Boise, Idaho.
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Vincent Kituku
Dr. Vincent Kituku, from Kituku Associates in Boise, has presented to more than 300 public schools in Idaho and has done trainings for Montana State University, College of Southern Idaho and Northwest Nazerene University. He is an adjunct professor for Boise State University, has taught continuing education for several years and has his own consulting firm. For more on Kituku, PDF (360KB).
Breakout sessions: Twelve different breakout sessions on a variety of topics will be offered during the conference.

Raffle: During the conference, attendees can win various prizes by purchasing raffle tickets. The big-ticket item this year is a handmade quilt by Melody Clegg.

2007 Conference
The 2007 conference was both educational and fun It offered lots of interesting topics centered around Lifelong learning.
Keynote: Steve R. Parson, Ed D
Steve Parson serves as the Executive Director of the National Community Education Association. He began his career in education when he graduated from University of Northern Iowa and became a classroom teacher in a high school in Newton, Iowa. From that point he entered the field of Community Education as an administrator in the newly founded program at Iowa Central Community College. He was selected to serve as a Mott Fellow and spent a year in Flint, Michigan as a Mott Intern while he was earning his doctorate in Educational Leadership at Western Michigan University. |

He joined the faculty at Virginia Tech as Director of the Center for Community Education. In addition to his work in Community Education at the university, he served as department head, associate dean and director of a regional graduate center. He is the author of several books and articles. His latest books are “Transforming Schools into Community Learning Centers” and “Journey into Community: Looking Inside the Community Learning Center”. Dr. Parson has also served as a consultant to many communities that have been involved in developing community schools.
